The 2011 Houston Indie Book Festival April 2nd
Celebrate the fourth annual Houston Indie Book Festival along with dozens of nationally-distributed literary journals, local booksellers, publishers, small presses, literary organizations, and authors at the Menil Park on Saturday, April 2nd from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Co-sponsored by NANO Fiction and Gulf Coast, the festival showcases the efforts of writers, artists, teachers, community members, and cultural groups working to make the arts and humanities a vibrant part of the Houston community.
The festival will offer readings by local authors throughout the day, including: children’s book author Gwendolyn Zepeda; fiction writers Sophie Rosenblum, Ann Weisgarber, Amelia Gray, and Ryan Call; as well as poet Hayan Charara. The Houston Indie Book Fest and Inprint Readings will take place every hour from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
This year’s festival is set to correspond with the Menil Collection’s Open House event. Alongside the book fair, visitors can enjoy outdoor art exhibits, tours of the Menil campus, art demonstrations, live music, food trucks, and much more!
This event is free, and everyone in the community is invited to participate in what has become Houston’s only event of its kind.
Since 2008, the Houston Indie Book Festival has steadily expanded from a small gathering of local bookstores and artists to a full-scale regional event. To date, more than fifty exhibitors from all over Texas and the U.S. are scheduled to participate.
More information about the Houston Indie Book Festival is available online at http://indiebookfest.org.
The Houston Indie Book Festival is supported by the Houston Arts Alliance, The Houston Endowment, Inc., Inprint, The National Endowment for the Arts, The Texas Commission on the Arts, and the University of Houston’s Department of English.
We look forward to seeing you in April!

J was born blind, but she could "see" things. Her gift has always helped the police find such things as missing persons, serial killers... a ghost or two.

Detective Kiel Stark has worked homicide for eight years, but he has never met this mysterious Seer his fellow officers claim could almost perform miracles. Not until a gruesome triple homicide has his superiors calling in the reserved woman to help with the case.

Now Stark is faced with a double threat. Not only is he finding himself dangerously attracted to the mysterious beauty, but she could very well discover his own carefully guarded secret—a secret that could bring an end to his career, his way of life, and any future he had hoped to have.

Warning! Contains disturbing images, the living dead, revenge gone wrong, drug deals gone bad, and two people facing an impossible love without any chance for a future.

Sensuelle (aka Sydney Shookerman) was an exotic dancer. At least, she tried to be. Unfortunately, Sydney sucked at the job. She had a body to die for, and the face of an angel, but she lacked the timing and moves which would put her in the pro league.

Fortunately, she managed to keep her job at Napoleon’s nightclub. And despite the rumors that Napoleon’s used to be a speakeasy back in the 1920s, and was reputed to be haunted, she never knew how haunted it was until she accidentally awoke the spirit of one poor victim from that era.

The first thing Frankie Nuwurth wanted to do was to get even with the wise guys who had put him away. Although he had no idea how he was resurrected, the cute half-naked dame working in the joint was an awful temptation. And one thing was certain—he hadn’t been laid in almost a hundred years, which meant he had a lot of catching up to do!
