Croat was a Lupan, one of the half-man, half-beast creatures long thought to be extinct or fabricated from fairy tales. Lupan were folklore, nothing more than a myth.

Tora was a Sensitive. Her kind really existed, and normal people feared Sensitives because it was common knowledge that all Sensitives were evil and practiced the dark magicks.

Captured and thrown together inside Baron Agrino’s dungeon, they discovered a connection between them that defied all reason, and a love that transcended all boundaries.

Qitirin

Scarred and traumatized, ex-Marine Sergeant Joshua Cobb can no longer function amid normal civilization. He's retreated to the mountains of Alaska to live in solitude, where he can battle his personal demons in peace.

He has no idea that the injured wolf he rescues will become more than a companion. It will also save his life, and show him a love he only believed was possible in fairy tales.

Slash

Officer Sonia Sparrow is an introvert of sorts, spending her workdays on the force, and her off days alone. But lately it seems she’s acquired a new partner. A dog, that she’s dubbed Slash, keeps showing up in the nick of time to save the day.

Michael Masson, a former Marine, is looking for a quiet life, but he can’t help the desire he still has to serve his country. Having been burned in love once before, he’s vowed to never show his other side to anyone else. Instead. he chooses to spend his life roaming the country and not getting close to anyone. But when he spies the female police officer in trouble, he can’t just sit back and let it happen.

New! Breachers: Trott and Mendlaw, Book 5 of the Breachers Series, a Contemporary Paranormal/Fantasy Romance by Linda Mooney

New!

Breachers: Trott and Mendlaw
Book 5 of the Breachers Series
Contemporary Paranormal/Fantasy Romance
by Linda Mooney
Word Count: 42K
$3.99 e / $10.99 p

Male Breachers are being murdered. More specifically, something’s exploding from the inside out. What on earth is happening? Is it murder? Or a birth, of sorts? And if it’s a type of grisly birth, who or what is being born? Furthermore, where are the babies?

Olmsly Morrow calls in Clay Trott and Davida Mendlaw. Both are Breachers of the purest bloodlines, and he feels there’s no one better to solve the deaths of their fellow Breachers. The problem is that Clay’s and Davida’s species are mortal enemies and have been for years. It’s an eons’ long prejudice that has been passed down through generations. But they’re not on the old planet anymore. They’ve never even set foot on it. So why are their species still fighting?

As the investigation gets more and more complicated, gut instincts are telling Davida and Clay that not all good guys are good. They’re having to keep things close to the vest to solve the mystery of these deaths. With Breacher numbers declining, they must put the past behind them and work together if they’re to save their kind from extinction.

And if this case wasn’t harrowing enough, Clay and Davida are also having to deal with their growing feelings, knowing that, in the end, it will never work out. It's a realization that almost tears them apart.

Warning! Contains a strawberry milkshake, thirty-nine years, gut feelings, apples, illegal experimentation, a pure bloodline, slimy afterbirth, and two people fighting against years of indoctrination when they discover their true feelings for each other.

Contemporary Sci-Fi Romance
By Linda Mooney
Word Count: 52.6K

The Children are settling into their new lives, but unexpected expenses are piling up with the babies’ milk and diapers, and the electricity bill on the rise as the brunt of winter inundates them. Everyone is doing what they can to pitch in, working extra shifts and doing whatever it takes to keep their heads above financial waters, to the point where K8 is contemplating using her ability to split in two to do double the work. But how much longer can they keep it up?

When K8 is approached by a publisher to tell the Childrens’ story, she’s hesitant to trust the guy, but she likes the idea. She’s always loved writing, and she’s been wanting to get back into it. Plus the extra money from book sales would definitely help. But is their story worth sharing?

Adam has been working with K8 at the diner for a while now, and his feelings for her keep growing. He’s leery of the publisher, fearing the man is someone looking to take advantage of the Childrens’ innocence, and he takes it upon himself to protect K8. As he earns her trust, he’s hoping he’ll also gain her affection.

While they may have been raised in an unrealistic environment, the Children are quickly learning how the real world works, and know some people don’t have their best interests at heart. Worse, the threat of retaliation from Docenti Labs is still real, and those people will never stop coming for them or for the valuable information they claim was stolen.

Warning: Contains a great tipper, needing a lawyer, when you're a cook and not a housekeeper, a nine point five, leftover meatloaf, injections from hell, and one man trying to protect the woman he's come to love at the risk of his own life.

Flesh Wounds by Robin Badillo

Hello everyone.
I'm not new to Texas ARF, though I am new to posting here. I hope to change that and show my face around here a bit more often... but don't worry, my mama raised me right so I'll try not to wear out my welcome.
I normally write Paranormal Romance of the "vampire" persuasion, but coming September 15th, I will have my first Mainstream Contemporary release hit the e-publishing world as "Flesh Wounds" makes its debut. The story is set right here, deep in the heart of TEXAS, too!!
If you don't mind, I'd like to share a little of it with you now. Enjoy!!

After five years away, Julia Benson has finally come home. Facing the painful memories awaiting her in the small Texas town is nothing compared the mess she’ll make when she gets there. Dealing with the ripple affect leaving caused the ones she loved is just as hard as dealing with being abandoned by a father who wasn’t everything she’d believed him to be.
Dylan Banks was the boy from across the street who’d loved Julia since they were twelve. She was the only girl for him and the only one he couldn’t have. Unable to repair that broken part of the girl he loved so much from afar, he now had a second chance to fill the void the only way he could… love her until she got it through her thick skull that not every man was like her father.
Can love really repair all that has gone wrong in Julia’s life or are some wounds just too deep to heal?

Excerpt:
With the towel held above her head to block the torrents of rain, Julia ran around Garret’s car toward Dylan’s truck. He met her on the passenger side and opened the door.
Dylan glared at Garret, whose eyes never left Julia as she ran from the safety of his car.
Garret flipped a short wave to him as he pulled away.
A jealous fire ignited in Dylan’s gut.
He rushed back around and jumped inside. “I was afraid you had gotten it started and tried to drive home in this alone.”
Julia pressed her lips together and glared back at him with a seething scowl.
“I’m glad you’re safe.” Dylan fumbled with the radio trying to stop his hand from shaking.
“If I’d known you were coming, I would have called to let you know you needn’t bother.”
“It’s no bother, Jules.” He swallowed the air that had become trapped in the back of his throat.
“Why do you always insist on rushing to my rescue?” She jammed the seatbelt clip into the latch.
“Rescue you? Your mom asked me to give you a ride so you wouldn’t be stranded out here in this mess.” He inhaled deeply. The anger he had felt for her when she left him Monday night slowly regrouped and formed a ball in his gut. “I can leave you here if that’s what you want.” His hand sat idly on the door handle. Push me, Jules, just push me, and see what happens. Wild angry thoughts whirled in his head, thoughts on which he’d never act.
Her eyes studied him keenly. Her rigid shoulders softened and she sat back shifting her gaze to the rain pouring outside.
“All right then. I’ll take you home.” He put the truck in gear and pulled away from the school. “I’ll have Grady tow it to the shop in the morning after the storm clears out.”
“You don’t have to do that. I’ll call him.”
“I don’t mind, really.” He glanced over only to see her jaw clench tightly. He was pushing her buttons and strangely enough, he liked it.
“Whatever.”
The twist in his side pressed against his ribs. “You haven’t been around much this week.”
“I’ve been busy.” She didn’t look in his direction at all.
“With that guy?” He knew the second the words left his mouth he’d said the wrong thing.
“I don’t see how it’s any of your business.”
“It’s not. I just thought that if we were going to be friends, you would’ve at least said hello or something.”
“Hello,” she said with a softened tone, but still one that scratched at his heart.
“I’m trying here, Jules.”
“Nobody asked you to.”
Dylan’s anger jolted through him and he immediately pulled the truck over to the side of the road.
“What are you doing?” Her eyes widened and she stared at him with an open mouth.
“I’m not going any farther until you stop acting like this,” he growled. He threw the gear into park.
“Acting like what?” She unfastened the seatbelt and scooted to the edge of the seat.
“Acting like something completely phenomenal didn’t happen between us.”
“I told you that if we were going to be friends, you would have to forget what happened.”
“I can’t forget something like that.”
“Well that’s too bad.” She jerked open the door and bolted out into the pouring rain.
Dylan scrambled out of the truck and ran after her. She barreled down the street in front of the truck. The headlights captured the pink flesh of her thighs under the wet, thin dress she wore. Dylan’s hand clasped a slippery arm and pulled her to a halt.
“Stop!” He drew her back.
“Let go of me,” she hissed through clenched teeth.
“Not until you look me in the eye and tell me you didn’t feel it, too.”
Water drenched them both as they faced each other in the driving rain. Her eyes narrowed and the sea green shade darkened.
“I…I…” She searched Dylan’s eyes, as though trying to find the words to say.
Dylan looked down at his hands locked around her arms.
The way Julia gazed at him he could easily imagine her sliding her fingers across his forehead and moving his long hair away from his eyes.
His chest heaved as his breathing increased.
“Please don’t do this to me, Dylan.” Deep recesses dug in between her brows.
“It’s already been done.”
With that, his mouth assailed onto hers.

I sure hope that wasn't too much of me too soon. After all, I only come in one size and that's TEXAS SIZED!!
If you'd like to hang out with me in other places, come on over!!

The Hanged Man: The Eternal Kiss *
Book one: Shadowed Souls

It's been almost a year since my vampire Diego has seen the light of ...er... night.... LOL

But I'm very happy say that he and his story is out by Tease Publishing as part of the Dark Tarot Imprint! I'm very happy to see this book be available once more!

Available in print now here!

Available now at Fictionwise. On Sale Now!

As part of the imprint series, the covers are representations of a true Tarot deck, and Diego's story is of the Hanged Man. The card reveals sacrifice, selflessness, and solutions to problems that then weren't obvious through his travels. These solutions becomes clear as he acts and reacts to his world. This card lends its meaning to both Diego and Titania.

Welcome to their world.........

Diego Viteri has lived for centuries with only one real goal, to avenge himself against the one who destroyed the man that he was and created the creature he is now. He is suffering a growing loneliness that is becoming impossible to ignore. His only reason for not ending his life is to see that Brakka is served his justice and then, Diego can rest.

The last thing he is expecting is to have an encounter with a human woman who is willing to jump between himself and Brakka during a harsh and bloody battle. Their one meeting changes everything for Diego, bringing to life emotions and wants that he has long believed to be as dead as he is.

As he follows Titania and her band, his needs reshape into something that he can't ignore. Before he knows what he has done, he bonds with her and sets into motion the very thing he swore he would never do to another person. He has shared his curse and in the process may have very well killed her. And there is only one choice to be made to try to save her.

EXCERPT:

He meant it only as a brush of skin, his lips to hers, an exclamation of his growing feelings for her, but the instant his lips found hers, all reasoning deserted him. She was sweet and hot, soft and seductive to his senses.

The earth moved beneath his feet, rocked him to his soul, and he held her tighter to keep himself from flying off into space. Her body matched perfectly to his, meeting his planes and hard angles with the curves and valleys of a woman's body. An unknown urge screamed in his head, and pounded at his temples. To claim her. To make her completely his. To be able to protect her, regardless of time or distance.

He shoved the thought far away. He would never pass on his curse. He would not condemn this woman of compassion to a life of death. Instead of dwelling on the impossible, he shifted his weight, bringing her flush against him. He pushed a hand through the thick weight of her hair, savoring every electric sensation on his skin.

He tasted her lips, nibbling at the corner of her mouth, feeling her breath against his skin, sipping at her lips until she gave in, and he burned.

Want Menage? La Petite Mort is Now Available from Red Rose Publishing!

La Petite Mort, a scorching little erotic fantasy by Carolyn Gregg, is now available from Red Rose Publishing.com!

http://redrosepublishing.com/bookstore/product_info.php?products_id=219

Bria had just one wish, one desperate desire, and the only place she would be able to have it come true would be at the annual Midnight Fantasies Masquerade Ball. It would be interesting to see if, given enough money, the hosts truly granted everyone’s wildest fantasy, as they promised, or if it was just meaningless hype.

After all, how many women attending wanted to die at the automated “hand” of a sex machine?

Scent of Lavender Released Today!

My newest ebook, Scent of Lavender, is available for download from Cerridwen Press. This is my second paranormal romance and I hope you’ll find it as eerie and romantic as the first. And for my fellow Texans, the story is set in our very own Hill Country area, complete with whispering oak trees and murmuring creeks, scorching afternoon sunlight and spine-chilling twilight, and a spooky old Victorian house with more than its share of secrets.

For those of you who haven’t yet tried reading a book in digital form, I hope you’ll give this one a try. Short of working in a book store or library, there’s no more convenient way to get your hands on a good book. Ebooks are always just a few clicks of your mouse away.
To tempt you, here’s a brief excerpt:

He snapped off the lights and stepped into the shadowy foyer. The silence of night seemed suddenly to intensify.

Trying to ignore his own growing awareness of the space around him, Rob crossed the foyer. The bottom half of the staircase lay in shadow, catching only a dim glow from the bare bulb at the head of the stairs. Watching that shadow, he hesitated briefly. But nothing happened. No sound intruded in the silence of the house. No numbing chill came over him.

With difficulty, he took another step toward the stairs. Thus far he’d sensed no threat from the spirit, only joy when she’d stood on the front porch and a lingering sadness upstairs the following dawn. And once he’d smelled something like burning tobacco near the stairs. But other than by her mere existence, she’d never given him any reason to be afraid.

Gripping the banister, he pulled himself up the staircase. Faded, threadbare carpet, once deep burgundy with hunter green ivy crisscrossing its width, hugged the center of the staircase and muffled his footsteps as he ascended. Then, taking his weight, the fourth tread gave slightly and popped.

Startled by the unexpected sound, Rob stopped again. He’d been up and down the stairs dozens of times in the past few days and never heard a sound out of them. Uneasiness crept over him. When he tried to take another step, he couldn’t. Dread filled him, holding him in place, weighing inside his chest like shredded iron. His chill intensified, too, fermenting from the inside out until his body was one big block of ice. Determined to break past it, he lifted one foot and dragged it up to the next step.

Another step popped about halfway up the staircase. For the next several seconds the weight of that cold and dread pressed upon him with unbearable power, almost driving him over the edge of panic.

And then suddenly, it lifted. As if a heavy woolen cloak had been whipped off his shoulders, Rob was free.

Not stopping to analyze what had happened, he charged up the stairs, around the upper rail and down the corridor toward the front bedroom doorway.

The open bedroom doorway.

Rob stumbled to a halt. He’d carried some painting supplies inside earlier in the evening. When he’d left, he’d pulled the door closed behind him. He was certain he’d heard the tumbler click into place. Now the door stood wide open.

Standing two feet outside the threshold, Rob peered reluctantly into the room. Moonlight and shadow peered back quietly, as if waiting for him to enter.

He took another step and stopped in the doorway. Nothing moved inside the dark room. No whisper drifted in the air. No unnatural chill wafted around him. That sense of dread he’d experienced on the stairs might never have existed. And yet something made him hesitate to go farther.

It was one thing to face a spirit on a seemingly empty street corner in a distant land. It was quite another to have one occupy his home, making its presence known at will.

Cautiously, he reached inside the room, gripped the doorknob and pulled the door closed. He paid attention, listening hard as the tumbler clicked solidly into place.

Releasing the doorknob, he took a single step backward, then reached forward and brushed the wood with his fingertips. The door didn’t budge.

He pressed his palm against it, harder and harder, until his full weight leaned into it. But the door didn’t give even a fraction of an inch, so solidly had it moved into position.

Lowering his arm, he tried once more to convince himself that Lily had been right, that his imagination had simply gotten the better of his common sense. Maybe that dark shape in the old photograph had been a shadow or a long-forgotten neighbor standing in the deepening dusk. Maybe he had been asleep in the hammock Saturday night. Maybe he had dreamed the woman on the porch and, later, the quiet sighs that had drifted through the house. Maybe he’d imagined all that he’d felt tonight. Maybe Aunt Anna had been temporarily crazy when she’d thought she’d seen Lillian years after her death.

Maybe heavy wooden doors could slip their latches and swing open on their own.
Stepping back from the closed door, Rob turned and walked up the hallway to his bedroom…

And decided to sleep with the lights on.
